This is a Macintosh OSX version only. There are earlier versions of Musical Space Invaders available for PCs and Macintosh OS9. To use this program with an external midi keyboard you will need a midi keyboard with a USB connection. Make sure your midi keyboard and drivers are properly installed.

Installation

Double click on Musical Space Invaders 3.0 (OSX) zip file and extract it to your hard drive. This will happen automatically after downloading the program with Safari. The program must live in the Musical Space Invaders 3.0 folder but you can drag the program icon to the Doc Bar making a short cut. Double click on the program icon when you are ready to start. This is a trial version of the program. It will expire 30 days after you first launch it. It is fully functioning no features have been disabled. This is the only copy you will need. The unlocking code will activate or reactivate the program once it has expired.

How To Use This Program

Musical Space Invaders is an extremely versatile program. It will benefit all ages and levels. Even accomplish pianist will improve their sight-reading skills. The secret to Musical Space Invader`s power is rooted in its ability to be customized for all levels. It also has the benefit of being programmed by a professional pianist and composer. If it is used properly, the note reading facility attained only after years of piano lessons can be compressed into a few months. Take greater control of your musical destiny. The Music Chord Teacher provides you with a very stimulating and creative setting for learning the chords. It lets you customize every detail of the lesson. First select the key or keys you want to study. Then specify which scale degrees to include in your questions. Drill down further to select the exact inversions to include. Once you are ready just click on the Start button to play. One to seven random chords will be played on the musical staff from within the parameters that you have defined. You answer the questions by playing the correct notes on the computerized piano. You click the piano keys in the same order that you read the chord in. For example, if the chord were C Major you would answer by playing C, E, and G on the piano. The notes youve selected will remain highlighted and numbered 1, 2, and 3 on the piano until the chord is complete. If you have accidentally selected a wrong note, just click on the note again and it will be cleared. The interface is so easy that even a 4 year old could use this program. I have not included the option to use a midi keyboard because I think it would distract from the lesson. The Music Chord Teacher is teaching several skills simultaneously so you really need the hands on experience to reap all its benefits.

This program includes many options and features. As with my other programs it includes a student name and grade database. Chord Teacher goes one step further by including and optional floating history window. This window keeps you up to date with all the detail of the game in progress. Zero in on those real trouble spots. When your done save it as a web page! Show your friends or teacher that you really did practice. These features make the program great for the classroom or music studio.

This program is very easy to use. All the music graphics are very large and easy to read. Each interactive screen elements has help tips attached to quid you along the way. This program compliments Musical Space Invaders. After having achieved a fundamental knowledge of note reading, either with the help of Musical Space Invaders or this program, Scale Teacher will advance you to the next level. It will help you to intuitively know the notes for each key signature. Students will be freed from having to constantly consult the key sign as they struggle to learn a new piece. This knowledge will greatly facility your ability to read and learn music.

The Music Scale Teacher will play a random musical phrase ranging from 1 to 8 notes based on the key, range and note count you have selected. Shoot the notes down by playing the correct note on the piano. Use the mouse or optional midi keyboard to enhance the value of each lesson. Increase the games excitement by turning on the optional note timer. If you don`t shoot the notes down within the given time, they will blow up! There are plenty of special effects that augment the excitement of the game as well as sharpen valuable skills. Turn these features on or off, as you need them. This flexibility allows you to use this program with all ages and levels.

There are two modes of play, single key or multi key mode. In single scale mode, practice each key one at a time. When you become more advanced, switch to multi key mode and review all the keys. The game is logically setup to teach you the keys in a progression from simple to advanced. Just follow the lessons outlined in the Key`s menu and you`re guaranteed to make progress.

Included in this program, is a robust student grades database. Teacher`s can easily track the progress of each student. Print these grades out or post them on the web with the instant HTML feature. Beginner students will also benefit from the Auto Teacher function. Auto Teacher will highlight the notes simultaneously on the piano as each new melodic phrase is played. Think of it as a never -ending instructional video that you design based on the parameters that you`ve selected.
